Hi Kimberley

Would just like to say a huge thank you to you for the beautiful cupcakes you did for our wedding all our guests comment on how delicious they were and who had made them. The display looked amazing as well and we both loved the little menu board you did. So once again many thanks.

5* review - from Suzanne Day www.sudburypeople.co.uk

Was very pleased with the products I purchased from the Little Treats Bakery stand at a Christmas Craft Fair in Bury St Edmunds. Great local business that we should all be supporting. They have a special Valentine's offer on at the moment - http://www.sudburypeople.co.uk/discussions/Valentines-day-Special-Offer-6-cupcakes-pound-10/discussion-15043041-detail/discussion.html

Love Cake? You’ll love the Little Treats Bakery (from http://anessexwife.wordpress.com/)

7 Sep 2011

Last week I have a visit from the most wonderful lady – she arrived at my house laden with cakes and choc treats and had the kindness and sense to bring a wonderful gift for my 2 year old to keep her quiet while we had a very tasty (couldn’t resist that pun) meeting.

Little lady and her wonderful gift

The lady is question was Kimberley Morton of Little Treats Bakery and the cakes in question were AMAZING!!

Launched in August 2011, Little Treats Bakery is a very new company on the ever expanding bakery treats scene; however Kim has quickly seen that personal and personable service will quickly propel you to the front of this crowded market.  Sitting in my kitchen drinking tea and eating cake I quickly felt as if this was just a catch up with one of the girls, not a business meeting.   With a new career born from a serious horse riding accident that left Kim unable to work full time, this strong lady has made the very best of a bad situation and used the life change to follow her passion, and quite clearly her talent.

Tasty cakes all ready to be devoured

Little Lady loving the cakes

I was treated to a box of 6 cupcakes; 3 were Oreo cookies and cream with chocolate and vanilla buttercream. The cupcake is made from double chocolate sponge which contains Dark Belgian chocolate and crumbled pieces of Oreo cookie. The buttercream is a mix of chocolate and vanilla to give the two toned buttercream. The second 3 cupcakes were banana flavour, using fresh bananas with a caramel buttercream. The caramel is homemade and added to the buttercream before being piped on and I promise you, you really can taste the different in freshness and intenseness of flavours with all of this being homemade.

Not content with making some of the most delicious cupcakes in Essex, this savvy business woman has extend  her  offering to almond macaroons, cake truffles, fudge, celebration cakes, honeycomb and tarts. She is also developing her online shop stocking children’s baking kits, one of which was given to my little lady to try out (more about this another day), mixing bowls, mixing spoons, rolling pins and cookie cutters.  These are all incredibly cute and practical and make excellent presents for the child that has all the toys in the catalogue already come Christmas.

Alongside taking over the baking world Kimberly hasn’t forgotten the wonderful people who helped her that day she fell from her horse.  She kindly organises regular fundraisers for East Anglian Air Ambulance service – the next one being a Casino night at Stoke-by-Nayland golf course on Friday 21st Oct 2011. For more information on this event please see here.

After this meeting I was left happy, full and inspired. I know where I will be heading next time I need cakes for an event. I felt at ease with Kim, and knowing that she is so passionate about what she is doing and how much she wants to please her customers makes me sure that she would listen to me and produce cakes that I wanted, not just ones that she thought were best.  I wish her all the luck in the world, so nice to see a young woman so determined and so sure to succeed.

Kimberley Morton from Polstead near Sudbury is a young Suffolk business woman who's Little Treats Bakery business is already going from strength to strength.

Little Treats Bakery specalises in selling delicious cup-cakes but it is branching out into the children's' baking market selling baking kits and utensils designed for little Suffolk bakers. You can see pictures of what Little Treats Bakery does by clicking here.

Kimberley's achievements deserve special acknowledgement because as you may have seen in local newspapers and on news bulletins she has built up her business whilst recovering from breaking her spine.

It was in 2009 when Kimberley suffered her life-changing injury whilst horse riding. Because of her injury she had to have a complete change of career and that is why she started up Little Treats Bakery.

Kimberley said: "I have always loved cooking and decided I wanted to turn my passion into a career.

"Little Treats Bakery is currently only online but I do attend local Farmers' Markets. Everything is homemade and personalised to customer requirements."

Since her accident Kimberley has been a keen fundraiser for the East of England Air Ambulance who rushed her to hospital at the time of her injury. She has organised a casino night on October 21 to raise money for the Air Ambulance which you can find out more about by emailing kimberley@littletreatsbakery.co.uk.

Let Sudburypeople know if you are setting up a new business, we would love to support you by posting a story about you on our site. All you need to do is email Sudbury@Thelocalpeople.co.uk.

'.....Customers were, quite rightly, charmed by the boutique. In fact, the only thing that slowed them down was pausing to consume an utterly delicious truffle (or two) from Little Treats Bakery (http://www.littletreatsbakery.co.uk/). These little stunners not only looked spectacular, but achieved the truffly ideal – not too sweet, so all the more reason for helping yourself to a few…My personal favourites were the coconut dusted version, although I did try all of them, just to make sure. Purely in the interests of research, naturally....'
